This 1960 Selmer Mark VI tenor is a good example of why a lot of
players gravitate towards the horns in this serial number range. There
is this nice combination of the rich and vibrant character of the early
VIses with the added projection and focus present in this era.
This particular horn was relacquered at some point and it just received
a complete overhaul by master technician Jim Germann. It has Jim's
signature red colored pads and metal resonators and the horn is in
excellent mechanical shape. The pearls have that nice worn-in feel to
them and with the action perfectly dialed in, there is an
effortlessness in the feeling of playing this horn.
The neck has the matching serial number and is in very good shape.
The sound is slightly open and on the brighter side in a very resonant
way. This combined with a good amount of core and feeling of projecting
through the room, makes it a really fun horn to play!
