This 1960 Mark VI alto retains about 92% of its original lacquer. It is
very good mechanical and cosmetic condition with the only evidence of
past repairs being a small area of dent work on the left side of the
bottom bow, two small dings that were removed from the side of the neck
and a resolder of one of the low C keyguard feet. The neck has never
a pulldown and is in perfect, factory round condition. The bottom bow
brace as well as the bell flare are both perfect.
The horn has a new pad job (not KB Sax) and is set up with plastic
resonators. The action is perfect and the horn is smooth and fast under
your fingers. It is a wonderful player with a rich, colorful tone that
is slightly on the darker side of neutral. The slightly wider tone feel
and freeblowing nature (especially when compared to the later 6-digit
altos), combined with a complexity and depth to the sound, makes it a
beautiful and expressive player!
Very well kept example of the 80,xxx series Mark VI altos!
