We are selling this beautiful silver plated 1928 Selmer Paris tenor on
behalf of a French jazz player Stephane Spira. He had the keywork customized by
Parisian saxophone repair artists David Barrault.
The bell keys and the low C# had been modified and keywork from a
Selmer Series III was used. As a result of the modernized action, the
horn now feels very comfortable to play. The low C# and the bell keys
are very easy to articulate, and overhall the keywork is well balanced
and quick to get around on.
The sound in the early Selmers is absolutely gorgeous! It is very rich
and multi-textured with a round and slightly dark core. There is plenty
of projection and a beautiful sizzle, and the high frequency spread is
easily accessed with a great dynamically flexible range.
This is indeed a very special horn! An early example of the legendary
Selmer sound combined with the custom made modern feeling keywork make
it a really nice and inspiring instrument to play!
